Interior Design Trends 2020 — Framing at Home
With the new year fast approaching, we’ve taken inspiration from our work with the V&A, Whitechapel Gallery and Michael Hoppen Gallery (to name a few), and rounded-up some of our best-loved projects to look ahead and predict which interior design framing trends will be popular in 2020.
Match Frames to Colour and Wallpaper
This summer, we worked closely with the team behind the V&A’s acclaimed exhibition Tim Walker: Wonderful Things. As part of the collaboration we created a series of bespoke pink frames designed to complement the kitsch pink wallpaper in a gallery devoted to London’s club scene; and matched bright yellow frames for portraits of Tilda Swinton to the yellow walls of the country house inspired setting. At FRAME we love nothing more than experimenting with unusual colours, and can colour match frames to wall colour and wallpaper to help you create a gallery wall like no other.
Use Soft Pastels
We’re big fans of Jeremy Deller at FRAME London. His limited edition print of Stonehenge looked wonderful framed in maple with a pink wash finish, allowing the grain of the wood to show through. These soft pastel frames make a gorgeous addition to the home, particularly on neutral backgrounds.
Or Be Bold With Neon
Frames need not be discreet! Draw attention with eye catching frames in neon yellow or green and pearlescent finishes which look incredible on dark backgrounds.
Frame Your Treasures
Don’t leave your mementos hidden away in storage, give them a new lease of life by framing them. For the launch of Jo Wood’s photography book we framed much loved pieces from her personal collection of Rolling Stones memorabilia. Our team specialises in mounting 3D objects, and can advise on framing items (big and small) to create beautiful objects for your home or a special gift for a loved one.
Frames Don’t Have to be Rectangular
The FRAME team is made up of highly skilled craftspeople, who can create frames in all shapes and sizes. For inspiration, take a look at some of the unusual colours and shapes we created for Gabriele Beveridge as well as these statement circular frames we made for Tim Walker.
If you’re thinking about a framing project that is completely unique, take inspiration from our first FRAME Edition with artist Aaron Angell. The series of 12 limited edition artworks were each painted on glass and housed in a frame inspired by the techniques used to make Tudor doll’s houses. Find out more about the project here.
Mix Up Styles, Textures and Shapes
A clever mix of textures and materials can provide drama to a gallery wall. We worked with the brilliant Karen Kilimnik for her exhibition at Spreuth Magers Gallery to produce a range of frames with ornate gold finishes and simple wood profiles.
To add unique shapes and textures to your wall, look no further than our new Design Range. With cleverly crafted corners and unusual adaptations of our box frame Gallery Range - we aim to bring something new to standard contemporary framing choices. The profile pictured above shows a beautiful oak wood with a rounded edge and curved interior, designed and handcrafted in-house by our excellent team. Contact us to find out more.
