1 — Consultation

We can send estimates via email or phone, but the best way to get an accurate quote and to see what is possible is to visit our shop for a consultation - just get in touch an book an appointment.

In our consulting room we have an extensive range of frame, mount and fillet samples for you to look at. We can guide you through various mounting, glazing and hanging solutions while you are here.

Our experienced team can help guide you creatively in your framing choices or work collaboratively with you to find your desired design solution. Once you’ve chosen your frame, we will measure up and provide you with an estimate.

2 — Handmade Framing

Your frame will be made by hand at our East London studio. It will be precision cut and joined by one of our skilled craftspeople in methods appropriate to the profile or material chosen. This could be any combination of specialist joinery, pinning, gluing, and underpinning.

The frame will be hand sanded, to ensure a blemish-free finish before being taken to given its final treatment. This could be layers of primer and spray lacquer for a gallery white finish or a simple hand-wax and polish for a beautiful natural wood finish.

3 — Mounting, Fitting & Hangings

We use reversible conservation methods and archival materials to ensure the longevity of your artwork. You may have chosen a window mat, a raised float mount or a completely bespoke mounting solution.

For all works on paper we use fine Japanese hinging paper and rice glue to ensure a light touch and no damage to your artwork.

Glass or acrylic is precision cut and fitted into the frame and cleaned. Fillets, if chosen, are fitted and finally the mounted artwork and backing board.

A sub-frame may be added for stability and so that your frame hangs flush to the wall. D-rings and wire may have been added for a home installation.

Materials & sustainability

All of our materials are environmentally sustainable and FSC certified. It’s our aim to produce frames that will last a lifetime, and protect your artwork to give them longevity. We source all of our products with consideration and are proud to have long established relationships with the best paper, metal and wood suppliers in the UK.

We package our frames using as much recyclable material as we can. If you’ve had your artwork framed with us in the past, you can recycle the wrapping a blue foam corners we use to protect your work. Alternatively, you can bring your old plastic back to the shop to be reused.
